Adidas Sees Return to Growth in Europe in Fourth-Quarter

Operating profit climbed 37% to €1 billion as apparel and running sales offset flat footwear and weak Europe performance, Adidas said.

  • Adidas achieved record-breaking performance in the third quarter of 2026, with revenue growing 7% to €7.3 billion on a currency-neutral basis. Operating profit climbed 37% to €1 billion, marking another quarterly high for the German sportswear maker.
  • Strong growth in Japan and South Korea , Latin America , Greater China , and North America fueled results, while Europe contracted 4% to €2.24 billion due to heavy footwear discounting across regional wholesalers.
  • Apparel sales led the charge with 19% growth, accessories grew 5%, and footwear remained flat. Marketing and point-of-sale expenses rose 4% to €833m, reflecting investments around the World Cup throughout July.
  • Europe is expected to see "high-single-digit growth in Europe in Q4," Adidas said, driven by delayed shipments and higher wholesale sell-in. Outgoing CFO Harm Ohlmeyer will be succeeded by Birgit Kretschmer in the new year.
  • In Greater China, the company continues outperforming Nike, which has faced nine consecutive quarters of sales declines. Strong demand for running and football lines, including the Adizero Adios Pro Evo, bolstered the group's annual guidance.
