Why Adam Driver Said Yes To X-Men After Rejecting So Many Marvel Roles
Adam Driver will star in Paper Tiger, begin Heat 2 next month and join the X-Men reboot as Mister Sinister, he said.
- On Wednesday, actor Adam Driver confirmed during The Rich Eisen Show that he is finished playing Kylo Ren in the Star Wars franchise, stating, "The ship has sailed."
- Driver previously pitched The Hunt for Ben Solo, a standalone film following his character after The Rise of Skywalker, but Disney executives Bob Iger and Alan Bergman rejected the proposal, claiming, "No, he's dead."
- Collaborating with Scott Burns, Rebecca Blunt, and Soderbergh, the actor spent two years developing the script, but ultimately noted, "I don't get to decide" on Lucasfilm's final authority.
- Next for the actor is Paper Tiger, releasing Nov. 13 with Scarlett Johansson and Miles Teller, and he is scheduled to begin filming Michael Mann's Heat 2 and portray Mister Sinister in the upcoming X-Men reboot.
- Driver joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe after Kevin Feige persuaded him, citing childhood passion for the franchise; "because I was a big fan," he explained, recalling playing Wolverine with cousin Tony.
