Lynn Bid for Bail Rejected
On Tuesday, Victorian Supreme Court Chief Justice Richard Niall denied bail to Greg Lynn, who remains in custody charged with murdering Carol Clay until his retrial in May.
Senior Crown Prosecutor Mark Gibson opposed the application, arguing Lynn failed to meet the 'exceptional circumstances' threshold required under Victorian law for murder defendants seeking bail.
Lynn testified about 'disgusting' prison conditions, alleging a fellow inmate pelted him with a bottle of faeces and 'bodily fluids' while he was in protective custody.
His son Geordie Lynn offered his life savings as surety, with proposed bail conditions pitched to the court as 'as close to home detention as you can get.'
Arrested in November 2021 by the Special Operations Group in Victoria's High Country, Lynn awaits a retrial in May after a court ruling found a substantial miscarriage of justice in his first trial.
