Man Enters Guilty Pleas Nearly 3 Years After Kelowna Teen's Death
Crown prosecutors say Brandon Michael Kazakoff plans to plead guilty as Tristan’s mother prepares to attend the hearing and remember her son.
On October 13, Brandon Michael Kazakoff appeared at the Kelowna Law Courts and pleaded guilty to dangerous operation of a vehicle causing death and assault related to 15-year-old Tristan Seeger's 2023 death.
The charges stem from an October 21, 2023, incident near Ben Lee Park where Kazakoff, seeking teenagers who bear-sprayed his father, drove his Hyundai Santa Fe into the crosswalk and struck Tristan.
While under surveillance, Kazakoff burned the vehicle and switched license plates, later admitting to an undercover officer he initially feared his actions constituted murder; lawyer Glen Verdurmen confirmed a joint submission regarding sentencing is forthcoming.
Tristan's mother, Paule Seeger, and father, Jason Seeger, observed proceedings in a courtroom half-filled with supporters; Jason said he was glad Kazakoff admitted the act but sensed he was not remorseful.
Honoring her son, Paule Seeger continues hosting annual plasma donation drives in Tristan's memory, stating that helping others is the best way to find meaning after his death.
