A heavy snowstorm paralyzed roads in the municipalities of Nowy Żmigród and Osiek Jasielski. Police evacuated more than a dozen people trapped in their vehicles when gusty winds and snowdrifts prevented them from driving any further.
In southern Podkarpacie, Monday's snowstorms and drifts caused significant road disruptions. The situation was so dramatic that several drivers were trapped in their cars. These dangerous situations occurred despite appeals from local authorities to avoid travel.
"It was already getting dark, it was snowing horizontally, and the wind was so strong that it was impossible to stand on the road. You couldn't see anything but snow," one of the participants in the dramatic operation described the situation.
