Carnival: Fiscal Q3 Earnings Snapshot – WTOP News
Carnival surged 6% after posting record quarterly results, while Royal Caribbean and Norwegian rose 3% each on sympathy buying, analysts said.
On Tuesday, Carnival Corp. reported fiscal third-quarter revenue of $8.44 billion, surpassing analyst estimates of $8.35 billion. CEO Josh Weinstein stated, "We delivered another quarter of top and bottom-line records."
Carnival stock rose 12% to $24.74, triggering a sector-wide rally as investors reacted to the strong earnings report. Royal Caribbean Group shares climbed 7% to $258.55, while Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings stock rose 5% to $15.06.
Bolstering investor confidence, Carnival reduced its debt burden from $26.6 billion to $23.9 billion and raised full-year adjusted EPS guidance from $2.22 to $2.24. Record net yields increased 2.4% over the quarter.
Rising fuel costs linked to Middle East tensions pressured operating income, which fell from $2.27 billion to $2.22 billion. These persistent inflationary pressures remain a concern for Carnival despite recent positive performance.
Forward trends remain robust, with 2027 booked occupancy and pricing at record levels, suggesting sustained demand for Carnival. Analysts continue monitoring sector-wide challenges like volatile energy prices that could reverse recent gains.
