From searching for a missing person to spotting hazards at an emergency scene, the Ionia Department of Public Safety expects a new $25,000 drone to give officers a view of situations they can't always get from the ground. Director Corland McDiarmid recalled how after he observed drones in use during the Billy Strings “Ionia Freak Fair” in August, he was determined to obtain similar equipment.
