New data on genAI use for finding and applying to jobs
OpenAI’s Economic Research team recently analyzed a sample of 600,000 ChatGPT conversations from 13,000 users between May 2024 and July 2025. About 3.5% of those chats were related to finding or applying to jobs, and the most common use case in that category was having ChatGPT help users with their resume and cover letters.
The AI-powered chat app ChatGPT has become one of the biggest tech sensations of the past few years. The Washington Post recently conducted a comprehensive analysis of what people actually use the popular chatbot for. The research examined 47,000 publicly shared conversations, and the results are quite surprising, even shocking.
