Following the arrest of Bursa Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mustafa Bozbey in a corruption and bribery investigation and his suspension from office by the Ministry of Interior, a new acting mayor was elected at today's Assembly session. In a tense atmosphere, Şahin Biba of the AK Party, the candidate of the Cumhur Alliance, became the acting mayor of Bursa Metropolitan Municipality.
Prior to the election for deputy mayor of Bursa Metropolitan Municipality Council, a crowd attempting to enter the municipality building clashed with security forces. It was reported that police used tear gas to disperse the crowd during the ensuing scuffle.
