A bill on fines and sentences for crimes involving deepfakes will be submitted to the State Duma

Russians were offered to be fined and imprisoned for fraud, theft, defamation and extortion using deepfakes. This initiative was put forward by Yaroslav Nilov, Chairman of the State Duma Labor Committee, and Alexey Pushkov, Chairman of the Federation Council Commission on Information Policy. The document will be submitted to the lower house of parliament on September 16, RTVI reports.
