886,360 hectares burned in B.C. throughout 2025
The 2025 wildfire season burned 8,864 square kilometres, close to the 10-year average, with 42 evacuation orders affecting 2,600 properties, officials said.
- On Dec. 29, 2025 the Ministry of Forests reported that more than 1,350 blazes scorched 8,864 square kilometres since April 1.

- The province plans to expand predictive wildfire technology, deploy night-vision resources and strengthen partnerships, as Kelly Greene said, `People's lives are increasingly being impacted by the effects of climate change and we must be proactive in how we prepare for climate-driven emergencies.`
- The area burned was close to the 10-year average of about 8,500 square kilometres and below 2024's 10,811 square kilometres, although less destructive than 2023's more than 28,400 square kilometres burned.
