76ers Forward Jaylen Brown Sits Out Against Knicks with Left Knee Soreness
Philadelphia may be without Brown for the first time this season after he averaged 20.6 points through five games.
The Philadelphia 76ers ruled star forward Jaylen Brown out for Friday's rematch against the New York Knicks due to left patellar tendinopathy, marking his first missed game since joining the team.
Brown first reported left knee soreness following Wednesday's victory over the Indiana Pacers, where he recorded 20 points and 10 rebounds in his first double-double with the 76ers.
Through five games, the 76ers have started 4-1, with Brown averaging 20.6 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 4.2 assists per game on 44.2/40.9/78.3 shooting splits.
Head coach Nick Nurse said, "I just know that he can't play tonight," with Dean Wade likely starting in Brown's place. The 76ers face Charlotte on the road Saturday.
This matchup at Xfinity Mobile Arena marks the opening of Group Play in the fourth annual NBA Cup, where the 76ers face the defending champion Knicks.
