- The intervention applies to non-law enforcement staff, including the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the Coast Guard. Trump said these families "have suffered far too long" and "help is on the way."
- House Republicans may still oppose the strategy, with Rep. Scott Perry warning that excluding certain agencies is "agreeing to defund Law Enforcement," creating potential hurdles for the conference.
- President Trump aims to have party-line spending legislation on his desk by June 1 to fund ICE and Border Patrol, while Thune stressed the need to "move with haste" to secure passage.
