Black people are more likely to die in traffic accidents. Covid made it worse.

38,680 people died in motor traffic accidents in 2020, a seven per cent increase since the year before. The number of Black people who died in such crashes was up 23 percent from 2019, the largest increase in traffic deaths among specific racial groups. Smart Growth America said Black people were struck and killed by drivers at a 82 percent higher rate than White, non-Hispanic Americans.
