Vehicle Crashes Into Faulkner Hospital in Jamaica Plain
At least three people were struck and one suffered life-threatening injuries, police said, as the scene remained active and Centre Street stayed closed.
On Thursday, October 01, 2026, a vehicle crashed into the Belkin House on the Faulkner Hospital campus in Jamaica Plain, killing one pedestrian and rupturing a gas line.
Boston Police Superintendent Paul McLaughlin stated the preliminary investigation indicates the collision was "not a deliberate act." The vehicle struck a woman sitting on a bench outside the building shortly before 11 a.m.
One pedestrian died from injuries sustained in the crash, while the two individuals inside the vehicle suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Four Boston EMS members were also evaluated for gas exposure.
Officials evacuated the Belkin House as a precaution while working with National Grid and the Boston Fire Department to "ensure safety." The main hospital building remains open and continues operating.
Police closed a portion of Centre Street to traffic as authorities are "incrementally" reopening operations at the Belkin House. The hospital advised patients to avoid the area unless necessary.
