3 car, semi crash blocks three lanes of NB I-5, WSP says
Troopers said the semi’s fuel tank was punctured, spilling about 300 gallons of diesel and leaving three northbound lanes closed.
On Tuesday, a semi-truck crash on I-5 in Mission Hills forced the closure of several freeway lanes in both directions, diverting all traffic to Sassafras Street.
California Highway Patrol officials reported the big rig went over the center divider around 10 a.m., damaging the fuel tank and causing diesel to leak onto the highway.
Simultaneously, a separate collision involving a semi-truck and three cars on northbound I-5 in Seattle blocked three lanes near Michigan Street, compounding regional traffic disruptions.
Seattle Fire Department personnel transported two individuals to a hospital in stable condition, while crews actively worked to mitigate the diesel fuel spill at both scenes.
The Mission Hills incident blocked freeway lanes until nearly 6 p.m., while drivers across I-5 should expect significant delays as cleanup operations continue throughout the evening commute.
