Mazda CX-70 Axed in US, Safe in Australia – for Now
Mazda says the two-row CX-70 will be folded into the CX-90 lineup, with select trims now offered in either two- or three-row form.
For the 2027 model year, Mazda USA is folding the two-row CX-70 into the CX-90 lineup, replacing the former with a new two-row version of the latter in the United States.
The Japanese automaker decided to merge the models because the CX-70 and CX-90 are essentially identical vehicles, sharing the same platform, body, and 3.3-liter turbocharged inline-six engine.
Updates for 2027 include revised rear suspension bushings and a new crossmember for improved comfort, alongside four new exterior paint colors including Navy Blue Mica and Aero Grey Metallic.
While the U.S. consolidates its lineup, Mazda confirms Canada will retain both distinct models for 2027, though the two-row configuration in the U.S. is now restricted to fewer trims.
Mazda USA stated this consolidation simplifies the brand's offerings, providing customers with more intuitive choices based on current shopping habits rather than maintaining overlapping two-row and three-row lines.
The CX-90 crossover will now be offered with two or three rows of seats, and the model has also received an updated rear suspension, new body colours and additional equipment.
