EnBW has inaugurated Germany's largest offshore wind farm to date: the He Dreiht 64 turbines in the North Sea have a combined capacity of 960 megawatts. The investment, worth around €2.4 billion, is already partially producing and the company expects it to be fully operational by October.
With a new offshore wind farm, Germany is once again becoming a bit independent of expensive fossil energy. Thanks to the windy North Sea, a few dozen wind turbines are sufficient to supply many people with electricity.
90 kilometres north of the island of Borkum, close to the Netherlands, this 64 wind farm, with a total power of 960 megawatts (MW), is "one of the most important European projects in the energy transition", says its operator EnBW.

The opening date, however, is purely ceremonial: the He Dreiht wind farm has been supplying electricity for a long time. According to EnBW's plan, the wind farm will reach its full capacity in October.
