13 teens arrested after massive brawl at Quartier Dix30
Police say the arrests followed video review, witness interviews and 12 searches after a 15-year-old boy was badly injured in the fight.
On Wednesday, Longueuil police arrested 13 teenage boys aged 15 and 16 in connection with a violent incident near Quartier Dix30 mall in Brossard that occurred April 18.
Officers received three 911 calls around 5:30 p.m. on April 18 reporting a severe fight; video footage shows youths kicking, punching and using a baton before the altercation escalated into a wider brawl involving about a dozen people.
Among the 13 arrested, four are 15-year-olds and nine are 16-year-olds facing charges including armed assault, assault and aiding and abetting; police identified suspects after reviewing video evidence and interviewing the victim and witnesses.
The 15-year-old victim sustained wounds to his head, arms and legs requiring hospital treatment, while Longueuil police stated all violent acts will be met with rigorous intervention and appropriate legal action.
Investigators dubbed the operation Project Connexion, led by Longueuil Police's Major Crimes Unit across 12 searches in Longueuil, Saint-Philippe-de-La Prairie and Candiac; anyone with information can contact Info-Azimut at 450-646-8500.
