$1.2M Fundraising Campaign Launched for Parksville Treatment Centre

The Nanaimo and District Hospital Foundation is fundraising $1.2 million to complete The Parksville Treatment Centre, a 19-bed abstinence-based addiction treatment facility providing publicly funded, structured care.
Addressing a significant gap in the region's continuum of Addiction care, the campaign helps people completing detox who often face lengthy waits or must pay for private services they cannot afford.
Personalized 30-day, 60-day, and 90-day treatment plans will be available at The Parksville Treatment Centre, alongside psychiatric support, primary-care services, and transportation assistance including an on-site accessible van.
CEO Barney Ellis-Perry noted donors identified Mental Health as a priority for the foundation, while Manager Elizabeth Driver called it "incredibly exciting" to watch the vision take shape.
Designed to provide more than temporary intervention, the 19-bed model supports recovery through counseling and aftercare, preparing people for a successful transition back to their communities.
