Man Fatally Stabbed Outside Busch Stadium Hours After St. Louis Cardinals Game
A man in his 20s died after a stabbing tied to an overnight dispute, and police took a man in his 60s into custody.
On Monday, May 4, 2026, a 27-year-old man was fatally stabbed outside Busch Stadium in St. Louis during a dispute; St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department officers responded at 2:45 a.m.
The incident involved two third-party contractors working overnight to clean the stadium, with authorities reporting their disagreement escalated into the fatal stabbing.
Police detained a 65-year-old man as a person of interest in the 700 block of Clark Avenue, where the altercation occurred; homicide detectives are investigating.
The St. Louis Cardinals described the event as an "isolated altercation" and confirmed stadium security measures remained uncompromised; the fatality did not impact Monday's game against the Milwaukee Brewers.
Mitch McCoy, spokesperson for St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, stated the stabbing was unrelated to the game, saying "no one will even know this occurred" regarding fan safety.
