1 dead, 4 injured in mass shooting

Police said five people were shot and investigators believe one gun was used as they continue to search for a suspect.

  • On Sunday, a shooting on Wethersfield Avenue in Hartford left one person dead and four others injured, with officers responding to a ShotSpotter alert at 1:40 a.m.
  • Hartford Police Lieutenant Aaron Boisvert reported officers arrived to find a crowd of roughly 100 people and an unresponsive gunshot victim, whom EMS pronounced dead at the scene.
  • Four additional gunshot victims arrived at area hospitals via private vehicles, with one man remaining in critical but stable condition while three others are listed in stable condition.
  • Detectives with the Major Crimes Division and Crime Scene Division are leading the investigation, though authorities have not yet identified the victim or announced arrests.
  • Anyone with information is asked to contact the HPD Tip Line at 860-722-8477, as Boisvert noted that large crowds make the area a "constant battle" for officers.
