The XENON Collaboration Sees A 5σ Signal For Low-energy Solar Neutrinos
The XENON Collaboration announced the first observation of low-energy solar neutrinos scattering off electrons in the XENONnT detector, extending direct neutrino observations down to about 17 keV. The measurement detects pp neutrinos, produced in proton–proton fusion reactions, and represents a 5σ signal—the statistical significance conventionally used to claim a discovery.
