Will ‘The Count of Monte Cristo’ Return for Season 2?
The eight-episode adaptation follows Edmond Dantès’ revenge plot, and PBS says no second season has been announced.
The Count of Monte Cristo concludes its eight-part run this Sunday, May 10, at 10/9c on PBS. The adaptation of the Alexandre Dumas classic was directed by Oscar-winner Bille August.
Sam Claflin stars as Edmond Dantès, a sailor falsely imprisoned in France. After escaping captivity, he assumes the identity of the Count of Monte Cristo to seek revenge on those who wronged him.
Available to stream, the full season is currently accessible on the PBS app and PBS Masterpiece on Prime Video. PBS Masterpiece acquired the series for U.S. audiences after its 2024 European debut.
Titled 'The Last Two,' the eighth episode depicts Edmond targeting his final enemies. The finale explores whether love remains possible for him after years of deceit.
No announcement of a second season has emerged since the series launched in Europe in 2024. PBS has not disclosed plans for the show to return following its U.S. run.
