Why sleeping like a medieval person may be good for you
Anna Fox, a 26-year-old graduate student, tried a medieval sleeping pattern known as 'first sleep' and 'second sleep' where she woke up after about four and a half hours, stayed awake for a few hours, then went back to sleep.
She reported feeling more alert and experiencing a sense of peaceful accomplishment after following this sleeping pattern.
Anna found the night hours peaceful and productive, using them for reading, writing, journaling, and creative work during her awake periods at night.
She has expressed an interest in continuing this sleeping pattern in the future.
