Jannik Sinner to Miss the Rest of the Year Due to Knee Inflammation

Top-Ranked Jannik Sinner announced today, Oct 6, he will not compete again in 2026 to focus on recovering from a knee injury sustained since his Wimbledon Tennis Championships victory in July.
Sinner has not competed since his triumphant Wimbledon Tennis Championships campaign, with the injury preventing his participation in recent events including the Open.
In a video message, Sinner explained he needs treatment for his knee, stating, "I also need to think about my long-term career so I will do everything possible to get back 100%."
Sinner's team said in a statement that "Jannik Sinner will follow a course of treatment for inflammation in his knee" to allow necessary recovery time before 2027 preparations.
The 2024 and 2025 Australian Open winner will now focus on recovery to reclaim his title in January, with full preparation beginning after treatment concludes.
