Celebrity Traitors Fans Say "Take a Bow" as History Is Made at First Banishment
Richard E. Grant was voted out after admitting he was a Traitor, with Maya Jama and James Acaster among those backing his banishment.
On Thursday, October 08, 2026, actor Richard E. Grant became the first Traitor ever banished at the opening Round Table of The Celebrity Traitors, receiving nearly a full house of votes from fellow contestants.
Grant came under intense suspicion after he accidentally revealed he was a Traitor moments after host Claudia Winkleman selected him and Maya Jama, alerting peers including Miranda Hart and Professor Hannah Fry.
In a landslide result, Grant received 18 votes from his peers, including from fellow Traitors Jama and James Acaster; he said afterwards, "I have been annihilated," admitting he managed to "check-mate" himself.
Following Grant's elimination, Traitors Jama and Acaster opted to recruit Professor Hannah Fry to their ranks, while host Winkleman told the group: "Players, this has never happened before."
The Celebrity Traitors continues on Fridays at 8pm on BBC One, with behind-the-scenes content available on The Celebrity Traitors: Uncloaked, featuring 21 celebrities competing to win money for their chosen charity.
