A Monmouthshire-based health tech company has been named a finalist in three major STEM and business award categories.

A trailblazing Welsh company developing a new generation of non-invasive continuous glucose monitoring has been recognised across three "highly respected" award categories. Afon Technology is a finalist in the Wales Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) Awards 2026 for Innovation in STEM and STEM Company of the Year, after being recognised by the judges for creating Glucowear™ – the world's first non-invasive wearable blood glucose technology. The Monmouthshire-based company has also been shortlisted for the Technological & Innovative Business of the Year at the 2026 South Wales Business Awards, highlighting its work to transform how glucose is monitored. Glucowear™ is Afon Technology's pain-free continuous blood glucose wearable device that is set to make life easier for people with diabetes by removing the need for needles when monitoring blood sugar levels.
