Violent Aldergrove Sex Offender Must Remain in Halfway House: Parole Board
The board said Abrosimo remains a high risk to reoffend and has no alternatives to mandatory residency.
The Parole Board of Canada has ordered Brian Abrosimo to remain in a supervised halfway house for one year, extending his mandatory residency to manage his assessed risk to the public.
Brian Abrosimo was sentenced in 2006 to 14 years for sexual assault, kidnapping, and unlawful confinement; one victim was an 11-year-old Aldergrove girl.
Starting this spring, Abrosimo's behaviour was "off baseline," prompting officials to demand urine samples. After refusing tests in August and admitting to cocaine use, he was briefly returned to prison.
The Parole Board noted Abrosimo will "always need a level of structured assistance and support" according to the last psychological risk assessment. There are no alternatives to mandatory residency to manage his risk level.
Abrosimo is currently under a 10-year Long Term Supervision Order that will expire in 2030 when he is 67 years old, requiring nightly returns to the facility.
