13 UK Counties Facing 30 Hours of Snow in Wintry May Forecast
WXCharts says arctic air will bring 30 hours of snow to 13 counties, while Northern Ireland is expected to avoid the worst conditions.
WXCharts forecasts 30 hours of uninterrupted snowfall across 13 counties, beginning at 3pm on Tuesday, May 12, and persisting through 9pm on Wednesday, May 13.
Air originating from the Arctic Circle will bring colder conditions, Netweather meteorologist Nick Finnis wrote, noting "snow is a possibility for Scottish mountains" later in the week.
Snow maps indicate wintry conditions sweeping into Scotland, Yorkshire, and County Durham, including Harrogate, Darlington, Newcastle, and Durham, while districts like Blackpool, Preston, and Blackburn face rainfall instead.
Northern Ireland is forecast to largely escape the worst wintry conditions, as The Met Office outlook describes rain moving southeastward on Tuesday followed by sunshine and thundery showers.
Widespread frost is a risk as nighttime temperatures drop near freezing, with conditions remaining cool throughout the week under a persistent northerly or northwesterly flow.
