UK pub restaurant chain to close all 32 sites in the coming days - see the full list
Whitbread said the move will cut about 3,800 jobs and replace many closed restaurants with sites inside Premier Inn hotels.
Whitbread announced the closure of all standalone restaurant brands, including Beefeater, Brewers Fayre, Bar + Block, Table Table, and Cookhouse + Pub, to focus on its Premier Inn hotel operations.
Chief executive Dominic Paul stated the restructuring will transform Whitbread into a higher-margin, pure-play hotel business while saving £250 million over five years.
The restructuring impacts 261 sites across the UK and Ireland, resulting in approximately 3,800 job losses representing 12 per cent of the company's 30,000-strong workforce.
While many branded locations close permanently on Thursday, September 3, Queensway Inns has agreed to acquire 53 of the shuttered sites to relaunch them as a new chain.
Management is attempting to redeploy staff where possible, though loyalty programs including Beefeater's concluded on August 31, marking the final phase of legacy operations.
