UEFA writes to FIFA demanding answers on Trump-Infantino dealings
UEFA says FIFA must answer 42 questions on Gianni Infantino’s alleged conflicts of interest and publish key governance documents by Nov. 2.
UEFA has set a Nov. 2 deadline for FIFA to release key governance documents relating to Gianni Infantino's abandoned $4.2 billion World Cup sell-off plan and other decision-making issues.
This ultimatum follows a FIFA Council meeting last week where European delegates expressed dissatisfaction after Infantino apologized for the proposal but failed to provide requested documentation.
UEFA general secretary Theodore Theodoridis submitted 42 questions covering Infantino's remuneration, payments to Marc Anthony, and business relationships with Donald Trump, though FIFA lawyers have claimed UEFA is harassing Infantino.
Responses must arrive before the Nov. 2 deadline, which falls 16 days before the nomination deadline for the FIFA presidential election, giving federations time to assess leadership.
Theodore Theodoridis emphasized that future governance reforms cannot substitute for scrutiny of past decisions, asserting that federations need answers now to assess FIFA leadership before nominations close.
