Turkish Airlines and CFM Sign MOU for More than 600 LEAP-1B Engines
The preliminary deal covers more than 300 LEAP-1B engines and long-term service support for over 600 fleet engines, Turkish Airlines said.
On October 16, 2026, Turkish Airlines Chairman Murat Çeker and Safran CEO Olivier Andriès signed a Memorandum of Understanding in Istanbul to establish an engine maintenance, repair, and overhaul facility in Turkey.
Under the preliminary agreement, more than 300 LEAP-1B engines will power up to 150 new Boeing MAX aircraft that Turkish Airlines ordered from Boeing in September 2026.
Turkish Technic CEO Mikail Akbulut confirmed the deal covers long-term services for over 600 fleet engines, including those operated by Turkish Airlines subsidiary AJet.
Reflecting "our shared ambition to support the airline's continued growth and fleet expansion," Andriès stated the MOU fosters an open MRO ecosystem providing competitive services.
Aerospace CEO Lawrence Culp remarked the partnership provides "highly reliable and efficient engines" to support the Istanbul network and strengthen long-term MRO capabilities.
