Truck Driver Jailed for Killing Teenage Woman in Crash on M6 in Cheshire
Barlow was also banned from driving for 10 years and 4 months after evidence showed he used his phone and logged into a gambling website while driving.
On Friday, HGV driver Daniel Barlow, 30, was sentenced to eight years and four months at Chester Crown Court for causing the death of 19-year-old Chloe Williams by dangerous driving.
The collision occurred on December 2, 2022, near junction 17 of the M6 in Cheshire when Barlow's DAF truck struck a stationary Volkswagen Polo, killing Williams and injuring two other passengers.
Evidence revealed Barlow was using a gambling website on his phone while driving at 55mph, failing to react to stationary traffic for at least 11.5 seconds despite a clear view ahead.
Judge Patrick Thompson disqualified Barlow from driving for 10 years and four months, describing his failure to attend court as the 'ultimate act of disrespect and cowardice.'
Williams' family stated that 'the impact of that loss will never leave us' and they will always wonder about the life she should have lived.
