MTV Dirty Sanchez Star Michael 'Pancho' Locke Dies Aged 47
The Welsh stuntman and skateboarder helped launch Dirty Sanchez and later built San Portablo into a clothing brand with shops in Aberavon and an airport.
Welsh stunt performer and entrepreneur Michael Richard Locke, known as Pancho, died on Friday at age 47. His clothing brand, San Portablo, announced his death, hailing him as an "absolute Welsh Treasure."
Locke gained fame as a stuntman on the cult MTV prank series Dirty Sanchez, performing dangerous stunts alongside Matthew Pritchard, Lee Dainton, and Dan Joyce. The show was often called the UK's version of Jackass.
Beyond television, Locke co-founded the clothing brand San Portablo with friend Nigel Hunt. The business grew from a stall in Aberavon Shopping Centre to permanent shops in the centre and at Cardiff Airport.
Longtime friend Matthew Pritchard, who knew Locke for more than 35 years, paid tribute while climbing Mount Everest in the Himalayas. Pritchard said, "We've had some amazing laughs together over the years."
Locke previously described his work as "Cymru Cool," aiming to celebrate Port Talbot beyond its industrial shadow. His family wrote his legend "will never cease, it will only gain momentum.
