The superyacht where Jackie Kennedy found new love can be yours for 42 percent off
Susan Fitzpatrick cut the price to move the yacht faster as older luxury vessels face weaker demand from modern buyers, brokers said.
- The historic yacht Christina O is now on sale for 52 million euros , nearly half off its initial 90 million euro asking price, including the convertible pool and original bar furniture.
- Originally launched as the Canadian River-class frigate HMCS Stormont in 1943, the ship was purchased by shipping magnate Aristotle Onassis for $34,000 after World War II and converted through $4 million in investment.
- Measuring 325 feet, the vessel accommodates 157 guests, exceeding the 12-passenger limit for yachts under International Maritime Organization rules and operating as a charter boat for around 700,000 euros weekly.
- Susan Fitzpatrick, widow of late owner Ivor Fitzpatrick, lowered the price to expedite a sale as broker Tim Morley noted the market has shifted from a pandemic-era boom to a buyer's market.
- Economic instability in Europe and the Middle East complicates luxury sales, while modern buyers prefer newer features over the ship's classic design, though Morley suggested an American buyer remains most likely.
