Real Madrid's Vinicius Banned for Clasico After Red Card
The referee’s report could bring a two-game ban under Spanish federation rules and rule the Real Madrid forward out of El Clásico.
- Real Madrid learns the length of Vinicius Junior's suspension today, Wednesday, October 14, following his dismissal during Saturday's victory over Villarreal for pulling Nathan Saliba's hair.
- Under Article 121 of the Spanish soccer disciplinary code, the offense—described in the referee's report as "pulling an opponent's hair"—carries a mandatory two-game suspension when the ball is not being contested.
- Spain's Technical Committee of Referees declined to review the dismissal in its latest "Tiempo de Revisión" program, instead analyzing three other incidents from the recent round of Spanish soccer.
- A two-game suspension would rule Vinicius out of Real Madrid's next two LaLiga fixtures: Sunday's home game against Sevilla and El Clásico against Barcelona on October 25, with longer punishments potentially affecting Racing Santander.
- Importantly, any domestic suspension would not prevent Vinicius from playing in the Champions League, as he remains available for Wednesday's European clash against Roma and the following week's meeting with Leipzig.
