Teenager Admits Nearly £140,000 Shoplifting From London Boots and Holland & Barrett
The 17-year-old admitted stealing goods worth nearly £140,000 from multiple London Boots and Holland & Barrett stores over two years, pleading guilty to 15 theft counts.
On Monday, a 17-year-old boy pleaded guilty at Highbury Corner Youth Court to a shoplifting campaign worth nearly £140,000 targeting Boots and Holland & Barrett branches across London.
Over the past two years, the teenager stole £137,342 from Boots and more than £2,415 from Holland & Barrett, with 45 additional offences to be taken into consideration during sentencing.
Asked by magistrates why he offended so prolifically, the teenager said, "Sometimes I just get distracted and led by other people," while his mother told the bench "he is easily influenced."
Prosecutor Edward Kalber urged magistrates to transfer the case to crown court "to give maximum latitude for the sentencing decision," and Chair Jennifer Shewry warned the teenager before adjourning until May 7.
Bail conditions prohibit the teenager from entering any Boots or Holland & Barrett store in England and Wales unless accompanied by a family member until sentencing.
