Two weeks after the fall of the Assad regime, Syrians in Austria have received letters from the Federal Office for Tourism and Asylum (BFA) for the first time, initiating asylum recognition procedures. In view of the uncertain situation, the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) is warning against hastily urging refugees to return. According to the EU, the conditions for a return are currently not met.

Guvernul de la Viena a început să notifice printr-o scrisoare migranţii sirieni care trăiesc în Austria de mai puţin de cinci ani, aproximativ 40.000 de persoane, că s-ar putea să nu se mai califice pentru a beneficia în continuare de azil, întrucât odată cu căderea regimului Bashar al-Assad ei nu mai pot fi consideraţi supuşi riscului de persecuţie politică în ţara lor, relatează joi agenţia EFE, citată de Agerpres.

Two weeks after the fall of the Syrian Assad regime, Austria has started the procedures that should make it possible to send certain Syrians back to their country. The first Syrians have received a call from the authorities. These are Syrians who have lived in the Alpine republic for less than five years. In total, around 40,000 people should expect to lose their right of residence.

Twee weken na de val van het Syrische Assad-regime is Oostenrijk begonnen met de procedures die het mogelijk moeten maken om bepaalde Syriërs terug te sturen naar hun land. De eerste Syriërs hebben een oproep ontvangen van de autoriteiten. Het gaat om Syriërs die minder dan vijf jaar in de Alpenrepubliek wonen.
