First they feared the Assad regime, now they are worried about the future under the new rulers - whether Shiites, Alawites, Christians, Kurds or others. In addition to the Arab-Sunni majority, Syria is home to many different ethnic groups and religious minorities. Their different traditions have shaped the country for centuries.
