According to a survey commissioned by the Austrian Society for European Policy (ÖGfE), increasing support for EU membership, constant skepticism about EU enlargement and the desire for more self-confidence towards the USA characterize the current domestic mood of the European Union. Russian attempts to destabilize were increasingly viewed with concern, explained Austrian Secretary General Paul Schmidt.
