Seven in 10 Brits fear the autumn budget could put further pressure on their money
A Currys survey found 73% of 2,000 adults worry the Budget could affect their finances, and many are delaying purchases for Black Friday deals.
A study of 2,000 adults conducted by Currys found 73 per cent are concerned about the impact the Budget could have on their finances over the coming months, including 27 per cent who are very concerned.
Uncertainty regarding household finances has made 54 per cent of people more cautious with major purchases, while 60 per cent feel more price-conscious than they did 12 months ago.
To manage costs, 43 per cent of shoppers have deliberately delayed purchases to secure deals during Black Friday, while 46 per cent save money in advance and 45 per cent research products before committing.
Shoppers planning to wait for sales have earmarked an average of £528 to spend, with Christmas presents topping their lists at 41 per cent, followed by clothing and small kitchen appliances at 34 per cent and 20 per cent.
Ed Connolly from Currys noted that "uncertainty around household finances is making people think more carefully about when and where they spend," confirming the retailer is focused on helping customers make confident buying decisions.
