Sacha Baron Cohen Turns Merger Talk Into a Crude Sydney Sweeney Joke
- Sacha Baron Cohen sparked backlash on the red carpet after making a crude joke about Sydney Sweeney while in character as Ali G. The comedian's explicit remark drew immediate criticism despite promoting his upcoming film.
- The media monitoring group NewsCord has organized a campaign urging cinemas to boycott Ali G: Who Iz I?, claiming to have sent nearly 56,000 emails. Critics argue the 55-year-old actor's character relies on racial stereotypes that feel outdated.
- In a separate interview, Ali G claimed Donald Trump was "penniless" before he "almost fell for" a business idea for an "ice cream glove." The character jokingly suggested the president is "hanging around on his friend, you know, Einstein's Island."
- Viewers on social media have condemned the comedian's latest antics, with many questioning whether his brand of humor remains relevant 25 years later. A recently released trailer features Borat Sagdiyev issuing a tongue-in-cheek warning about the film.
- The film is scheduled to arrive in UK cinemas on Friday, October 23, for a limited run. While Baron Cohen has built a career testing boundaries, some observers wonder if the world has moved on from his provocative comedy style.
