Roger Federer heads to the Tennis Hall of Fame and says he 'had the best time' during his career
On Saturday, 45-year-old Swiss tennis legend Roger Federer will be enshrined in the International Tennis Hall of Fame in Newport, Rhode Island, honored alongside broadcaster and former player Mary Carillo.
Federer finished his competitive career with 20 Grand Slam singles titles and 103 tour-level trophies, yet now reflects more on personal connections forged during his 25 years on the ATP Tour.
Beyond on-court success, his demeanor earned him the ATP Tour's sportsmanship award 13 times, and fans voted him the tour's fan favorite every year from 2003 through 2021.
Retirement shifted Federer's perspective from purely statistical success to the impact of his relationships. He noted being "a little surprised" by the attention given to his personality and conduct.
Still connected to the sport, Federer occasionally hits with his children and attends selected tournaments, while recent exhibitions in New York, Cape Town, and Mexico City drew large crowds.
