A Dog's Customized Pink Wheelchair Worth $800 Was Stolen. An Organization Stepped in to Replace It
Ruck9 said it will provide a replacement after Baby’s custom $800 chair was stolen, leaving the hospice pit bull without a key mobility aid.
On Thursday, Ruck9 contacted The Pittie Party to provide a custom pink wheelchair for Baby, a senior pit bull with a rare neurological condition requiring specialized mobility support.
Baby's original $800 wheelchair was recently stolen from her foster home on Aug. 19; she requires the device to manage Neuronal Ceroid Lipofuscinosis, which affects her balance and mobility.
Following the theft, the rescue placed a giant lawn sign reading 'SOMEONE STOLE HER WHEELCHAIR' outside the home to highlight that Baby has no way to go potty independently.
The new device is custom-designed with front and back wheels for Baby's specific support needs. The rescue said, "It's designed custom for her because she requires front and back wheels, and we know it's going to help her so much."
Investigating the Aug. 19 incident, the Cloud Police Department and Central Florida Rescue have found no leads, as no cameras were positioned nearby to capture the theft of the specialized equipment.
