Republican Mark Lamb wins election to U.S. House in Arizona’s 5th Congressional District – WTOP News
Mark Lamb won the open House seat with 51.5% of the vote, according to the Associated Press.
On Friday, The Associated Press declared Former Pinal County Sheriff Mark Lamb the winner of Arizona's 5th Congressional District, with Lamb earning 156,179 votes to Democrat Elizabeth Lee's 147,058.
Although Lee held a nearly five-percentage-point lead when Tuesday's results arrived, Lamb reclaimed the lead overnight Wednesday and maintained his advantage throughout the week.
Lamb campaigned on protecting Arizonans' freedoms and the U.S. southern border, while Lee, a reproductive health nurse, prioritized affordable health care; President Trump reaffirmed his endorsement of Lamb despite earlier misconduct allegations.
Rep. Andy Biggs vacated the CD5 seat to run for Arizona Gov., ultimately losing that race to Democrat Katie Hobbs, who received 1.3 million votes.
Other congressional races remain tight, including the battle in CD2 between Republican Rep. Eli Crane and Democrat Jonathan Nez, while Republican Rep. Abe Hamadeh currently leads in the CD8 race.
