The Supervisory Board of VW has approved the restructuring plan of the Group. The plant in Zwickau is on the tip.
In the Volkswagen Group there are four plants on the tip. VW announced that no competitive follow-up occupancy can be guaranteed in stages from the years 2031 to 2034 for the Emden, Zwickau, Hannover and Neckarsulm sites. For these plants, "parallel and alternative uses are examined".
According to a media report, vehicle production is to end in 2031 at the VW plant in Zwickau. As a result, the Volkswagen Board of Management has unanimously adopted a decision on this. There are also concrete timetables for a production end for three other German sites. According to the report, this is also possible without the approval of the Supervisory Board.
