49ers Wide Receiver Mike Evans Misses Practice with a Strained Quadriceps
The 33-year-old receiver is being held out as San Francisco manages a depleted practice group and no timetable has been set for his return.
San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Mike Evans missed practice on Monday due to a quadriceps strain, ESPN reported, though the team provided no specific recovery timeline for the veteran receiver.
In March, the 49ers signed Evans to a three-year, $42.5 million contract to replace Ricky Pearsall, who will miss the entire 2026 season following surgery on his knee.
Evans cited head coach Kyle Shanahan as a primary reason for joining San Francisco, praising his ability to "explain the game like I've never seen a coach do before" while building chemistry with quarterback Brock Purdy.
Facing widespread receiver injuries, the 49ers reunited with veteran wide receiver Deebo Samuel on a one-year, $7 million contract; Christian Kirk and De'Zhaun Stribling have also missed recent practices.
NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport indicated the quad strain appears minor and the team has little reason to rush Evans back before San Francisco hosts the Tennessee Titans on August 13.
