Boy, 14, Arrested over Death of Chloe Watson Dransfield in Leeds
All three defendants were remanded in custody, and Judge Guy Kearl KC set a pre-trial hearing for May 1 and a trial estimate of more than two weeks.
- Three teenagers appeared at Leeds Crown Court on Thursday charged with the murder of 16-year-old Chloe Watson Dransfield, who died following an attack in Austhorpe last week.
- Chloe was reportedly stabbed after a party in Austhorpe at 5.55am on Saturday, March 28, and died in hospital shortly after despite paramedics and residents attempting to aid her.
- Defendants Kayla Smith, 18, Archie Rycroft, and a 17-year-old boy appeared via video link from separate prisons during the 12-minute hearing, speaking only to confirm their names and dates of birth.
- Judge Guy Kearl remanded all three into custody, telling defendants, "For the moment, each of you will remain in custody according to your age." A trial is provisionally set for November 10.
- West Yorkshire Police confirmed the investigation remains active and urged the public to refrain from comments that could jeopardize court proceedings as the case advances toward trial.
