President Trump campaigns for Republicans as some push back on certain policies
Trump is holding about one rally a day as 12 senators press him to drop the Russia diesel deal.
On Tuesday, President Donald Trump campaigned in Alaska while facing internal party pushback over a deal allowing Russian diesel exports; a dozen senators, including six Republicans, urged Trump to rescind the agreement.
The deal temporarily eases U.S. sanctions on Russian diesel to lower prices, a move Trump defended as "world deal, not a USA deal," prompting Republican Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick of Pennsylvania to propose legislation blocking such purchases.
During her first briefing, White House Press Secretary Katie Zacharia confirmed the administration asked Kimberly Guilfoyle, the U.S. ambassador to Greece, to resign. "We have asked Ambassador Guilfoyle to resign," Zacharia said, amid allegations she offered access to officials for money.
A federal judge blocked The Department of Homeland Security from using $20 million in taxpayer funds for promotional ads, drawing bipartisan criticism. Meanwhile, a Reuters/Ipsos poll found 48% of Harris voters highly enthusiastic about midterms, compared to 30% of Trump voters.
With three weeks until the midterm elections, Vice President JD Vance acknowledged the party faces historical challenges. "We have as good a chance as I've ever seen to really defy those historical trends," Vance said as Republicans fight to maintain control of Congress.
